JOIN EVISU AND GQ AT STORES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY FOR FREE EVENT. Meet the Evisu artist Kanji Kohanda, who is in-store exclusively, customising your purchased Evisu jeans hand-painted with the iconic kamone.

Kanji was born in Osaka, Japan. He moved to London in 2002 where he has been creating designs for Evisu ever since.

Kanji's background and interests are street culture. From skateboarding, break dancing, graffiti and music. His main influences come from Tokyo, Berlin and London.

Kaws (American graffiti artist), Kami and Yamaguchi Akira (Japanese artists) are some of Kanji's favourite artists but he states that his main influences come from street culture. His art is described as refreshing and contemporary but with a traditional Japanese twist.

Kanji has appeared across the UK offering a special touch for the Evisu customers giving them the opportunity to have their Evisu Jeans hand painted.

The jeans, which retail at £165, give Evisu customers the chance to be part of the design of their newly purchased pair of Evisu jeans.

Kanji Kohanda, Evisu artist, is happy to meet and great all customers and sign brand books as a memento for the Evisu fans.

The design, which is influenced by the creative used in vintage western advertisements, has an unmistakable vintage American cowboy feel referencing the symbol of the lone homesteader struggling against the natural elements.  Yamane-san, Evisu founder, has always featured such images in his Japanese stores and Evisu felt it time to draw on similar inspiration.
